Teaching with Literacies
This pedagogy workshop explores how to effectively select and incorporate literacies into your teaching using key pedagogical principles—transparency, reflection, and metacognition.
By the end of this hour-long session, you will:
- Gain a clear understanding of the Literacies for Life and Career initiative - its goals, expectations, and impact on student learning
- Identify the literacies most relevant to your course(s) and align them with your course goals, assignments, and assessments to enhance student learning and engagement
- Apply strategies to increase transparency in your course assignments
- Develop or refine a reflection opportunity for your students to contemplate their learning around literacies in your course
This workshop is intended for A&S instructors who want to explore strategies for selecting literacies and integrating them meaningfully into their teaching. This session will provide practical approaches for embedding literacies into course design, assignments, and assessments to foster deeper student engagement and learning.
